How did you give back? Share with us!

As the holiday’s approached we shared with you about “Giving Gifts” – items that you could purchase for holiday gifts that give back!  We were overwhelmed with such a positive response and loved seeing each of you come in for Giving Keys, Wearable Compassion, Village of Hope Paper Bead items, and more!!  We know that, on top of your involvement with platforms offered by Philanthropy, many of you served others this past holiday season in countless other ways!

We heard stories of serving meals to the homeless and buying gifts for children whose holiday would be lacking.  You all shared powerful testimonies about ways that your selflessness breathed life into another human soul that was in desperate need of one of those touches that say, “I see you… HE sees you.”  We know that not all of you got a chance to share with us and others how you gave or served and today, we would be honored if you would share on this blog platform how you positively impacted the world around us this past holiday season!  Please know that sharing your actions is not boastful but rather a way to spur others on to get involved. Sometimes, people are desperate to give and help and be involved in the bigger picture but it is hard to know where to start. By sharing what you and your family did to impact our communities, you are putting the tool of inspiration in someones hands!

So… please share. Did you serve at a soup kitchen? Did you provide gifts for a family in tough times? Did you pick up the coffee tab of the person in line behind you or tip extra well to the wait staff working Christmas Eve? Maybe you invited someone over for a warm meal at your family table? We would love to hear…ok.. go!

“Tell me more about what y’all support…”

Good morning friends!!

As most of you are more than aware, here at Philanthropy we have 30+ charities that we are honored to support and be a part of! We LOVE when our customers inquire about them and we always enjoy sharing about the amazing charities we get to be involved with!  We often get questions about where they are located, how long they’ve been around, and wanting details about what they do!  Each and every organisation is so close to our hearts and we could chat allllllll day about them as they all feel like family!

With that in mind, we thought that some of you would enoy knowing that a list of the charities we work with are listed on our website under the subject title “Charities“.  There are hyperlinks to 7 of the organizations that will take you to their websites and let you read more about them in their own words as well as detailed information about Sudan and Haiti on the left side of the screen!! As you read about them, please feel free and encouraged to lift them up in prayer!

As we continue to make known the testimony of Jesus in a hurting world, we are blessed to share the mission with all of you! May we all continue to love more every day in “actions and truth” and may we continue to work shoulder to shoulder to make know the great love and mercy of our Father! We look forward to seeing you all soon!

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” -1 John 3:17-18

New Mercies…

Happy Monday everyone!!! We pray that your weekend was refreshing and that you were able to enjoy the amazing weekend that the Lord provided us!  As we begin our week and the sun begins to creep up to usher in this Monday morning, we are reminded of a promise…
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
~ Lamentations 3:22 – 23 ~
His mercies are new every morning – now THAT is a promise that makes beginning a new week refreshing!! His faithfullness is endless and without limits!  Because of His mercy , we are NOT CONSUMED!  We are not swallowed whole by the world around us and the worries that it can bring, but rather, as believers, we can walk in the new mercies of our God daily!!  His compassion and love for His children will never run out and He will never grow tired of extending a hand of mercy to us each morning!  Let us paint a picture…
You awake to a screaming alarm clock….
You’ve hit snooze once or twice (ok…let’s be honest… who only hits it once??)  and realize that you are now about 10 minutes behind on your morning routine.
Maybe you have children to get out of bed, tackle into clothes, and out the door to school with bonus points if they get to sit down to eat.

Maybe you have a dog that is whimpering to go out and some work to to complete before heading into the office.
Maybe you just simply can not find the motivation to even put your feet on the floor and all you want to do it pull the covers over your head….
Before your alarm went off (the first time) and before your eyelids gave their first flutter of conscienceness, a loving and merciful God was waiting for you.  He is ready to greet you with fresh and new mercies to face whatever your day holds.
The amplified Bible says it really well…
They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. .

We could all use some stability couldn’t we?? Well, good – because we have a Father who wants to provide it! We pray that you encounter His new mercies this morning and that you know that through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, for His compassions will not fail us.

‘The Fledgling Philanthropist’ – Inner Beauty

our own fledgling philanthropist – Lil Skye

Meredith here, along with our sweet lil Skye! (a.k.a the owner’s daughter and my future boss.) I have the pleasure of being the nanny to this precious girl a few days a week. And believe me when I say that she is a special young lady.

The two of us love fashion. I LOVE to pick out her clothes and she loves to tell me she doesn’t want to wear it, but rather something of her own choosing. (Who can blame her?) Her mom has stocked her closet full of amazing choices that I wish came in my size. Needless to say, dress up is an activity that happens often. Generally I dress her and slowly add items to her ensemble (a hat, a crazy scarf, etc.) I get a good laugh at the outcome, which is followed by her giving me a sassy look (which cracks me up even more!)

Although we thoroughly enjoy our fashion “experiments” so to speak, it is my desire that she know her beauty comes from the inside, from her Creator. So often we as women and young ladies get wrapped up in the beauty of the exterior that we too often neglect the interior. The Lord speaks generously in His word of how the inside is a direct reflection of the outside. He tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, that He “knit us together in our mother’s womb.” Our God is not a God of mistakes. He created you with a purpose and a beauty that was specifically designed for you.

“Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” -Proverbs 31:30

In a culture where beauty is only skin deep, insecurity is second nature. Why do we forget our source of love and acceptance comes from Christ? What causes us to doubt our beauty in the first place? These are questions I frequently ask myself, as I’m sure we all do.

I want lil Skye to recognize what her source of loveliness is. That it comes from a great God who fashioned her perfectly and that true beauty only comes from the one who created us, our Jesus.

“Train a child in the way he should go. When he is old, he will not turn away from it.” -Proverbs 22:6

~ Courage ~

Courage.
It’s a character trait that we all want to have. There are few greater compliments than someone telling you that you are brave, unafraid, or courageous and it is a wonderful feeling to look something frightening in the eye and overcome.  Unfortunately though, getting to that point of actually DOING the courageous thing is often paved with some excuse making and a smidge of nausea =)  (Oh…is that just me?)
In the early chapters of the book of Joshua we meet a young, new leader – the books namesake, Joshua.  He’s facing some major tasks and, as the late Moses’ assistant,  has some LAAARGE shoes to fill!  The Lord tells him that he is going to become the leader of the Israelites and lead them across the Jordan River into the Promised Land… that is a serious task!!  Can you please imagine with us for a moment THAT conversation!?!?! We’re picturing sweaty palms, a pale face, and some SERIOUS need for fresh air!
BUT THEN – God says something that changes everything (He is SO good at that!) -
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you….This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Be courageous Joshua! I have your back! You can do this tough/scary/big thing! Be strong and FULL OF COURAGE!! I’m with you!
Ready for the best part? (Oh yea…there’s more!) God’s promise of support and His commands to be courageous is for us too!! It didn’t expire thousands of years ago on the banks of the Jordan river.  Suddenly, the thing that the Lord is asking of us seems slightly more doable.  We have a big God in our court whose promise to Joshua still applies today!
” Be strong and courageous (insert your name here)! Be careful to obey all of the instructions I give you! Do not be afraid or discouraged (insert your name here)! For the Lord your God is with you WHEREVER you go!”
What is something courageous that the Lord is asking you to do this week? We pray for boldness for you as you jump into the amazing tasks He has for you!! He has your back today and everyday afterwards!! Be courageous!
