Wear that Maxi Dress NOW : Philanthropy Style

I think it’s fair to say we’ve ALL reached the point where we are ready for spring to make an appearance!  I know I’m not the only one who has spent a moment or two looking longingly at the bright springy clothing hanging in my closet and thought –                    I want to  to wear these now!

Well….fear not friends… Today we’re going to give you a little inspiration for how to wear those flowy maxi dresses now, even though winter won’t quite let up.

*  3 Staples + A little Creativity = Countless Outfit Options *

* Begin with a simply white button down … bonus points if you can convince the husband, boyfriend, or dad to let you raid their closet!  Either tie or belt it at the waist and roll the sleeve slightly to about the elbow.  The rolled sleeve and thin, feminine belt can help the whole look become more polished.

*  Still need an additional layer? Throw on a fitted crew neck sweater over the button down!

*  Who Says Maxi Dresses Have to be Casual *

*  We started with a simple, loose fitted blouse with a peek-a-boo sleeve and threw it on over a black, tank-style maxi dress.

*  A flowy blouse over a flowy dress calls for a belt so that we don’t totally lose that fabulous waist line!  We went with a sassy silver!

*  For a final touch, we suggest a piece of statement jewelry.  In our case, we pulled in the silver belt by choosing a necklace with the same metal.

*  The Simplest Concoction *

*  There is nothing easier than throwing on your fabulous denim jacket – which, by the way,  we consider a staple in every woman’s wardrobe!  Stick with something slightly cropped to about the waist and dark in color.

*  To add the spring pizazz we are so eager for, we added a scarf in the freshest pattern of bright florals.

*  Love rockin’ your Wearable Compassion T? *

*  Obviously we are huge fans of our wearable compassion t-shirts because of what a huge impact they make with our charities and it is added bonus that they can be worn super casually or like you see them above! If you are like us and eager to rock a casual t, don’t be afraid to throw it on over your favorite maxi dress!

*  If you want a little more structure, put on a fitted denim jacket!

Let us know how YOU rock your maxi dresses year round!!

Second Annual PARKLIFE Event!

Being able to walk through the doors every day here at Philanthropy is a gift we can whole-heartedly be grateful for.  We know we are given so much, to have not only a roof over our head, but a constantly loving, giving and caring work/home to return to each morning.  We would like to say we all can understand, or imagine, what life would be like to be homeless without those things – most of all, without the opportunity to be able to know those things – but we know, with complete honesty, that is an impossible thing to do.

Our belief is to unconditionally love and to do what we can to walk a mile (or many many more) in another’s shoes, to try to help and to understand their needs.

When we speak of ‘their needs’, we know that the largest need of our homeless population is just to be seen as Human, not a homeless man or woman and not someone who needs help, but just as a human being who needs love and ONE opportunity to be able to walk a path and stand on their own two feet.

Today we want to spread the news and EXCITEMENT that next Saturday, August 18th, will mark the Second Annual PARKLIFE Event in Nashville.  This amazing (free) event has been created with the sole purpose of helping open the gates of opportunity for Nashville’s Homeless to create their own paths.

 “The aim of PARKLIFE is to raise $20,000 to finance the final stage of Lambscroft-The Cookery; a culinary arts training and catering center. Providing training and restorative life skills with opportunities of employment for the homeless and poor of Nashville.”

For more information on this event, or how you can help please check out  www.parklifeconcert.org

“Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’” – Matthew 25:44-45

The Fledgling Philanthropist- Taste and See

Hey All! Meredith and lil Skye here!

This week (well most weeks ) Skye and myself bake. A lot. I love it, she loves it, and of course all the girls at work love it because they get to sample all the goodies!!! It’s a win-win situation, really. We bake everything from cakes, to breads, to cookies. Honestly as long as it’s warm and sweet you can’t really go wrong, right?

As Willow and myself slave in the kitchen to prepare such fantastic desserts for those we love;), mixing, and tasting, more tasting, (and oh yeah, more tasting), it brings to mind how sweet our Saviour truly is. His perfect love is so good. Just like we can’t have just one bite of cake, once we get a small glimpse of the Lord’s love and grace, it keeps us coming back for more!

Let us go and continually seek the Lord in all that we do, and our desire to taste his goodness will surely remain!

“O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man that takes refuge in Him!”
-Psalm 34:8
